In this version, the player takes on the role of an assassin battling through levels set in different historical time periods.
The core gameplay involves stealthily navigating environments and eliminating target enemies without being detected. New to this Java remake is a "Bone and Flesh Separation" mechanic. When landing successful killing blows, the assassin's blade will separate an enemy's bones from their flesh in gory detail.
Beyond just graphical improvements, this Java version improves enemy AI and expands levels with additional objectives. Various new weapons can be unlocked too such as axes and crossbows. An upgrade system allows strengthening the assassin's speed, health and damage over time.
